Is there a cure for Tinnitus?

THERE IS NO TINNITUS CURE

While there has been a huge research effort to understand and cure tinnitus, doctors still dont know for certain the cause of it nor can they cure it. Organizations like the American Tinnitus Association and leading university researchers are committed to developing a tinnitus cure. Perhaps in the near future an actual cure can be found. Dont be disheartened, because through this research we have learned how to successfully manage symptoms so that most sufferers can get true relief.  Treatment plans often follow a three pronged approach.

4 OUT OF 5 PEOPLE WITH TINNITUS HAVE AN UNDERLYING HEARING LOSS

Most tinnitus patients are unaware that they have a hearing problem because theyre consumed with the unwanted sounds they experience in their head. By treating the hearing loss, we can reduce the prominence of the ringing, clicking or buzzing many patients report.

SOUND MASKING TECHNOLOGY

By introducing white noise or other sounds, the brain can be tricked into not noticing the clicking, buzzing, chirping or ringing sounds. Many of the worlds leading hearing aid brands have incorporated sound masking technology into their hearing aids. Stand alone devices and smartphone apps can also deliver sound masking to provide relief.

BEHAVIOR AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES

Certain aspects of our daily life can make tinnitus symptoms worse. By making small lifestyle changes in conjunction along with Sound Therapy and hearing loss treatment can provide substantive relief to daily symptoms.

  • Healthy stress relief outlets like yoga and Tai Chi

  • Reduce alcohol intake

  • Limit sodium intake

  • Avoid exposure to loud noises

  • Wear hearing protection when you are going to be in a noisy situations

The most important thing to do is get help from one of our doctors. Talk about your situation, get a thorough evaluation from our experts. Together we can develop an effective treatment to deliver relief. Its better than forking over lots of money for pills that simply don't work.
